Jesús Jiménez began his martial arts career at the age of
10 in Judo. In 1978 he began training in Isshin-Ryu Karate under
Sensei Eduardo González in Guayama, Puerto Rico. About a year
later he became the sensei of the dojo as a ni-kyu when Sensei
González went away to college.
He soon began commuting to
Bayamón, 70 miles away, to train
with Juan D. López. He continued to supervise the Guayama Dojo
as well as organizing another dojo at the University of Cayey. |

He studied
law in college, and while there was elected class president, president
of the history club and secretary of the politics club. 1983 marked a
major year of accomplishments for Sensei Jiménez: He graduated from
college, was accepted into law school, received his ni-dan, and was
appointed head instructor of the Order of Isshin-Ryu dojo in Guayama. He
opened another dojo in Puerto Nuevo during law school.
In addition to
Isshin-Ryu, he has studied Aikido, Okinawan Kobudo under Sensei
Kimo Wall, and San Yama Bushi
Jujutsu.
He
stresses the values of honor and loyalty to his students, as well as
demanding excellence in the physical realm.
Sensei is married to
his lovely wife Doris, and they have four children: Solimar, Dorimar,
Alejandra, and Jesús Jr.
