Master Bud Ewing

Bud Ewing is from Elkton, MD.

He was drafted into the Army in 1967 where he was trained to be a medic, specializing in field emergencies, surgery and pediatrics.  He was then transferred to Viet Nam.  It was during this time that he was injured in a land mine explosion.  He refused medical attention for himself until he finished attending to the seriously wounded men and they were moved to safety.  This unselfish act earned him both a Silver Star and a Purple Heart.  This compassion for others continues to be Bud Ewing's trademark.

He began training in 1973 in Isshin-Ryu Karate and was awarded a black belt in 1975. In 1990, Sensei Ewing became the head instructor and sensei of the Elkton Dojo.  He has received several awards for his teaching abilities:

1991 Dojo of the Year, International Isshin-Ryu Hall of Fame

1992 Male Instructor of the Year, International Isshin-Ryu Hall of Fame

1997 Outstanding Contributor to the Martial Arts, Master Don Nagle's Hall of Fame

He became a board member of the International Hall of Fame in 1993. In 1998, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Master Ewing continues to actively train and teach at the Elkton Dojo, and is the Treasurer for the Order of Isshin-Ryu board of directors.
