Sensei Knox began training in judo with his uncle, Sensei Tom Blair, as a youngster. As a teenager, he began training under Sensei Bud Ewing and is now ranked a yon-dan (4th degree black belt) in Isshin-Ryu Karate through the Order of Isshin-Ryu. He is also an ni-kyu in Kendo and still visits his uncle's dojo to train in judo.

On a personal note, Sensei Knox is a developer and commercial property manager. He and his wife Bernine have two children, Sabina and Jacob. He lives in West Chester, PA where he has his own dojo.
